1,500 Political Prisoners hold a Record Breaking Hunger Strike in Occupied Palestine

Fifteen hundred political prisoners being held against their will and against our international laws, have begun a massive protest today in occupied Palestine, led by the famous and beloved leader, Marwan Barghouti.
Barghouti’s call for the strike has given it added credibility. The 57-year-old earned the respect of the Falasteen people for his heroic resistance during the Second Intifada.
The Jewish Mafia deems Barghouti a serious threat to their continued existence as a military occupation (Israel) and gave him five life sentences in their illegitimate occupation court system, to ensure he could never be free to lead the people again.
Palestinians often hunger strike in the G4S Israeli facilities, protesting the occupation’s decades long torturous detention practices. But there has never been this many political prisoners hunger striking at the same time, thus it breaks all previous records.
The political prisoners were accompanied by thousands more people, who protested in cities and towns across occupied Palestine today, in solidarity with their brethren who are enduring inhuman treatment in the G4S facilities. The hunger strike occurred on today’s annual “Prisoners Day” protest.
Yahoo news reported that Issa Qaraqe, head of prisoners affairs for the Palestinian Authority, said that “around 1,300 Palestinian prisoners” were participating in the hunger strike and the number could rise.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club NGO put the number at 1,500.
“Decades of experience have proved that Israel’s inhumane system of colonial and military occupation aims to break the spirit of prisoners and the nation to which they belong, by inflicting suffering on their bodies, separating them from their families and communities, using humiliating measures to compel subjugation,” Barghouti wrote in a New York Times op-ed.
“In spite of such treatment, we will not surrender to it.”
6,500 Palestinians currently remain imprisoned under criminal conditions. 62 are women and 300 are children. Some 500 are held under administrative detention, without charges or trial. Most of Israeli charges are bogus anyway, especially regarding the children who should never be abducted, tortured and “criminalized” in the first place.
Thirteen Palestinian lawmakers are also among the detainees.
Shame on the Jewish  Americans for their silence and pro-Israel lobbying. The Jewish lobby, AIPAC is after all is the most powerful lobby in the world.
